I'm planning on upgrading my setup by going to the current Gen of CPUs. My current specs are below:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790k (Oc to 5.1GHz)
CPU Cooling: NZXT Kraken x62
Mobo: ASUS z97 PRO GAMER
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengance
GPU: GTX 1080 Ti FE
PSU: EVGA 650W Gold

So, I need to upgrade my Mobo, CPU and RAM. I was thinking about i7-10700k, but will consider other options based on the budget of max £700, including AMD Ryzens.

I mainly use the PC to play World of Warcraft and that is where I want the best performance while being able to run some of the newest games at High settings.

Also worth noting that I am planning on buying a RTX 3070 sometime after this upgrade, or when the Ti or SUPER versions of the 30* cards will come out.

Solution

It's one heck of an upgrade if you're willing to pay the slight extra money.

Seems good, that motherboard is something I looked at. The only thing I would ask, if we went from 32GB ram to 16GB ram and wanted spend the remainder on MOBO good for overclocking and 2x M.2 slots what would you suggest?

I'd wait for the new chipsets that AMD will be releasing soon and buy a motherboard based on one of those and whatever Ryzen CPU you can reasonably afford to go with it. If you go with Intel, you are going to miss out on PCIe 4.0.
