[SOLVED] Upgrading Motherboard and processor

My current system is fairly old and I was looking to upgrade both my motherboard and processor (including the CPU cooling) and being fairly new to this I'm not sure whether or not I would need to upgrade power supply, and whether the new upgrades would be compatible.

Current PC

Graphics Card - Nvidia 1060 6GB
CPU - AMD-FX-4300 Quad Core Processor
Motherboard - GA-78LMT-USB3

Looking to upgrade to;

Motherboard - MSI b450 Tomahawk Max
CPU - AMD Ryzen 3 3300X processor (CPU cooling to the AMD Wraith Stealth Socket)

I understand that the RAM memory size is different so I would need to upgrade that.

The GPU will work well with the new motherboard/CPU. You'll need DDR4 memory (old stuff is DDR3).

What is the make/model of your current PSU?

Just had to open it and have a look, not sure about the specific make but should be about 550 or 650 watts

I was thinking of upgrading to the AMD Ryzen 5 3400G instead of the 3 3300 X as its only a small increase in price, although I am still unsure on overheating / fans needed

The 3300x is superior to a 3400g. Zen + vs Zen 2 cores. The stock cooler is ok.

Stock cooler is fine. It can get a little noisy, but other than that, no issues.

If you insist on a cooler, a cheap Deepcool Gammaxx 400, or the newer V2, is plenty.

The Arctic Freezer 7x would be a good upgrade over stock for 23$ but the stock cooler will probably do just fine.
