-I'm looking to upgrade my cpu, motherboard, and ram. What should i go for to compliment my 1060 6gb.

-I5 4460
-GTX 1060 6gb
-16gb ram DDR3

-I just want to know what cpu, motherboard, ram, cpu fan and maybe case to fit all of those parts.
-No budget set so just want a rough idea of the price I will spend.
-Just want something that can help me run Red Dead 2, NFS Heat and other new games. (just looking to get a stable frame rate at med-high settings)

Thanks.

It's hard to go wrong with the Ryzen 5 3600. Boards can be a bit expensive, but hopefully B550 will be out soon, to help with that.

There are also some newer B450 boards that come with a BIOS supporting Ryzen 3000-series processors out of the box, like MSI's "MAX" models, and for a 3600 I would probably go with one of those before getting an X570 board that costs nearly as much as the processor itself.

Also, if you are looking to cut costs, you probably don't need an aftermarket cooler, unless you want something a bit quieter than the stock cooler, as the 3600 has relatively low power draw, and gets practically its full performance out of the box, making overclocking largely pointless. The Freezer 34 is a decent option for the money if you want one though.

I'm also not sure a 3700X would be worth it for a gaming build around this budget range, as the performance difference over a 3600 should be completely imperceptible in today's games. And even the 3600 is a 6-core, 12-thread processor, so I think it should hold up pretty well for years to come. Paying $130+ more for an additional 2-cores with 4-threads doesn't really seem like as good of a value, at least for gaming. Of course, at high settings, most modern games will likely be limited more by the graphics performance of a 1060 more than anything, assuming you are gaming at 1080p or higher.

-Good point
-Can you please recommend a GPU upgrade from the 1060 that would go along with the build
-Or is it worth perhaps waiting another year or so before I do upgrade my GPU
