Upgrading my current RAM?

I'm currently running 2 4GB sticks from Corsair. They're about 5 years old. I've upgraded everything in my PC since then except for the RAM. I'm considering 16GB just to have more than enough and not get slowed down while heavily multitasking. I run some higher end games as well.

Here's a capture of the memory stats.

Does anyone think I would benefit from a RAM upgrade after all these years? I see all these different RAM frequencies and timings and tried to read up on it but didn't understand it much.

One thing I did gather is that I would probably be better off getting 2 8GB sticks rather than 4 4GB sticks as it's easier on some memory processor portion of the motherboard or something.

Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Personally I like having 16GB for future-proofing and multitasking, and with games like No Man's Sky and Gears of War 4 requiring 8GB of RAM at minimum you won't regret the purchase. 2x8GB is indeed easier on the processor's memory controller than 4x4GB, so if you can go for the former. What's your current CPU and motherboard? That will determine the optimal speed and timings to get.

I have the ASUS Maximus VII Hero with an Intel i5 4690k

Would it say in the mobo's user manual what RAM specifications are recommended or are you going off of something else or personal experience?
