upgrading my gpu

good afternoon, im here because i am not happy with my AMD GPU and i want to change things up. im thinking about switching to nvidia and grabbing a 980 or 980i but im afraid my current specs wont handle it, could someone tell me if pc can use the 980 too the fullest or will i need a new cpu/mb/?

amd xfx r9 280x
amd fx 8320... no o.c
asus m5a97 r2.0 pro
seasonic 750w
hyper 212 evo cooling
8bg ram

According to your specs, you will be able to handle a 980 so there's no worry there. In terms of pushing it, you should be able to get some good performance out of it especially for gaming

i just hope that by getting a 980 or possibly 980i, I wont b getting such low frames in open world games like arma 3 and fallout . i am only getting 25 fps, so hopfuly switchin my gpu will solve this
