Upgrading my old graphics card

Hi guys i would like a little help from this great community.

First off i've builded the pc which was not meant to be a high end gaming rig but eitherway like 3 and a half years ago it did play almost all the newest games decent.So long ago the hardcore gaming shit stopped but i'm into getting a card for BF3 only. I've been getting around 25+ fps in big fights in BF BadCompany2 tho only on low settings but its realy decent playable. So im having a 7-8 year old 9800 gt 1 gig ram 256 bits, decent but old generation and pretty used. My processor is dual core e6600 3.06 ghz and i've got 4 gigs of ram. So i was wondering about changing my graphics card so i can make my computer only suitable for BF3 but if i want to play it on that low settings i want no lag here or there so a graphics card that would suit bf3 on low settings with no lag at all 40+ fps in big fights !
Or maybe my cpu is the bottleneck here but i dont think only changing the cpu would help with a 7 year old 9800gt.

Your CPU is quite weak to accommodate modern gaming cards but something like an r7 250 GDDR5 version should be fine for BF3 at low-medium settings (considering your CPU).

Of course you could pick up a GTX 750 if it isn't more expensive, your system won't take full advantage of it but it's decent enough to be used with a future build.

If you could provide how much you are able to $$ spend we could probably assist more directly. You're pretty weak on both end, you would benefit greatly from both a new cpu and a new graphics card.

Hmm thanks on your answer and since im on budget i've found the r7 250 for 100 bucks at a local store. Seems the card is just fine exactly for what i need, ty on your answers

Yea im pretty weak on money meaning im not planning spending anything on games or gaming rig too much, im gonna be selling the 9800 gt for half price the r7 250 is at my local store as rolandzhang3 suggested it and it seems like a decent card for me at the moment buying it for 100 bucks, ty on your answers !

No worries but $100 for an r7 250 is a bit pricey, if you live outside the US then that price is what I've come to expect :|

Be sure to get the GDDR5 version, there is a GDDR3 version which is much weaker.

Yup the one i found is exactly the GDDR5 version and yea i checked about it on the net it seems 1/5 cheaper but oh well its cool with me altough i would spend some money on the shipping,taxes and shit at the border so it gets like the same price eitherway, i'm from Macedonia btw but thanks allot on your answer im buying that card soon !

Ah yeah that price would seem right then, have fun 😀

Since you're switching from Nvidia to AMD you'll probably have to:

1. Uninstall your Nvidia graphics drivers

2. Run driver sweeper/fusion to clean out the remainder of your Nvidia drivers like in this video

3. Install the new card and let Windows install the basic VGA drivers and reboot

4. Install the AMD drivers for the R7 250 and you should be good
