Hi everyone, I am looking to upgrading my pc. I mostly play games on it like pubg,fortnite,destiny 2, csgo, bf1, and more. I am looking for a better build that would be able to run most games with high fps. I would like to get a gtx 1070 or even a gtx 1080. But the problem is that the i5-4570 would most likely bottleneck the 1070 and 1080. I was wondering if it is worth it to upgrade my cpu to a i7-4770/i7-4790. I found a used i7-4790 non k for $165. Or should i upgrade to the 1151 socket motherboard and get a i7 8700. Or should I wait for a new graphic gard like the gtx 20 series. Thank You

My current pc parts
i5-4570 (non k)
16 gb ram ddr3
gtx 1060 3gb
asrock z87 pro4
650w psu
144hz montior

PC parts to be replace
i5-4570 --> i7-4770 / i7-4790 // i7-8700
gtx 1060 3gb --> gtx 1070 / gtx 1080

Solution
Go with the used 4790 and use the money you save for a better GPU. The 4790 is still a really good CPU for gaming and moving into a 8th gen Intel system will require a whole new platform upgrade (mobo/CPU/RAM) for a small bump in performance.

An 8700k would probably average about 10% more fps in games, but it would cost you $500-700 for the CPU/RAM/mobo. That is just too much money for such a small fps gain.

You should not be having any issues with your games at 144hz 1080 resolution, even in the decently high end games. Issue with changing balanced systems is that the benefit will be tough to judge since you will be creating a bottleneck if upgrading just one thing, or improvement would be seen in one game over another depending on what you upgrade. if you really want to spend the money, I would probably go with a faster CPU that your motherboard supports, of if you want to go all-out, get a new i5 setup but that means new motherboard and RAM as well which will add about another $200 to the cost.
