Hello,
Got this old MB -

Now i work with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB that works fine with my games untill
I installed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, It works but not smooth as i like it to be, 30FPS with low details HD.
I would like to boost it up abit with more details and hight FPS.
My MB is PCI Express 3.0 and all the new cards are 4.0 but will it still boost my game?
Which GPU will you choose?

Thanks!

You can buy a pci e 4.0 GPU and it will work just fine. The single thing is that your bandwith will be bottlenecked by the pci e 3,0. but that does nothing in gaming.

at the lower end of the cards, you won't even know the difference between pcie 3 vs 4. not until you get to the top 2 or 3 cards will you know the difference.

some of the cards are even limited to 4.0 x8 lanes which is the same as 3.0 x 16 anyway.

Something like an RX 5700 (XT), 6600 (XT), 6650 XT or RTX 2070, 2080, or 3060 would give you a nice boost in gaming performance when compared against your GTX 1060. You will still be CPU limited since you are on an older platform, but those chips will let you max out that platforms potential. To get any better performance you will have to upgrade your motherboard, cpu, and ram as well. What are all of the specs on your current system?

If you want to play around with it you can look into trying to mod your bios to allow coffee lake support so you can use 8000 and 9000 series CPU's. It isn't a guarantee and you could potentially brick your motherboard, but it would let you keep that platform for maybe a couple of years longer.

Your in a spot chasing your own tail but like artk2219 suggested with the GPU's he listed would give you the bump your looking for.
