I need to upgrade my x4 880k cpu but dont know if to upgrade my cpu motherboard and ram to make them compatibly or to sell my system ive got now and then put the money from that towards a pre built system

We will need to get an idea of how much you're willing to spend on new CPU/Mobo/RAM.

I usually sell my parts individually. If I want to sell them quick I sell them cheap. You will need to reinstall your OS when you swap motherboards, so know how to do that.

Then you basically pick out a CPU that you want, then a motherboard, then RAM. I'll give you some examples.

You only have 384W available to your main components with that PSU. That's not too good, but it should be enough for a system with a GTX 1050. I would suggest upgrading it if you can.

This would be an awesome upgrade to a new CPU. You could also opt for the cheaper Ryzen 5 1400 or Ryzen 3 1200 instead. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Then if you wanted a new GPU, that's when I would definitely recommend a new power supply. Depends on your budget and your GPU, but as far as finding the best bang for buck PSU,
this one is a great choice. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

thx im only thinking about upgrading my cpu atm but i know my motherboard isnt compatibility with a ryzen cpu so id need to upgrade that aswell and to also add 8gb of ram to the system do you think this would be a good upgrade?

Depends on if you have your hdd partitioned. If you don't know then it is most likely not partitioned and you will have to reset the whole thing. So get a flash drive or external hdd if you have any files you want to save before formatting and reinstalling Windows.
