I just built a system and ran into some compatability issues. I am now going to RMA the motherboard, ram, and case. The build was

The motherboard and case had a different front panel connector configuration. The computer would boot up unless I turned the power supply off. It also would not stay off. I also want to oc the cpu to at least 3.0. I could only do this with 2gb of ram. Would not work with four. The ram... well the ram just plain stank. Would only work at factory settings with auto fsb. Any change to fsb it would bsod. I want to replace the mb, ram, and case with these

Does any one see any issues with this build? Will I be able to oc to at least 3.0 with all 4gb of ram? O ya, I'm using the newest windows 7 RC x64. I am on a strict budget. Kinda already went over, o well. Thanks for any advice.

P.S. does anyone think that http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128358 is better? It does have the 2 pcie slots. I will probably never use it but it's nice to know I would have the option. Not to mention the dual lan ports.

You probably need to look again at your front panel pins.
Sounds like there is an error there. Nobody gets it right the first time around.

When overclocking, set your RAM to the same speed as the processor initially if you can. You have plenty of room there from 266 to 400.
The new P45 motherboard is great. Much better than what you have. What you have may limit the overclocking options you have. That's why you can't get to where you want it to be.

You're better off sticking with the UD3R since the second slot on the UD3P supports crossfire (ATI GPU's), not SLI (Nvidia GPU's). You won't be able to add another GPU in SLI, so the extra PCI-E slot doesn't do you any good.

I would like to hear more about the problems your experiencing, though. I sounds more like a wiring problem or a short than faulty hardware. Did you do any troubleshooting like running Memtest86+?

Thanks for the info guys. Your right, I really don't need the UD3P. As for the problems, I didn't get around to running memtest, I really found no need, it just wouldn't work without auto fsb settings. I could however oc both the ram and cpu with oc utilities but I just don't trust them enough to do it that way. I would rather get the better performance hardware. Well I'm going to order tonight so please anyone with any comments speak up.
