i currently have a 780 ti that run completely fine, but i upgraded to a 4k 60hz monitor and i cant get my gpu to go over 30hz even tho it runs a lot of games at a 4k resolution without any problem. so i was thinking that is time to get a new gpu before waiting for the second generation of volta in a couple of year, my question is will my psu (cx600 from corsair) be able to run a gpu like the asus rog strix gtx 1080 ti?
And should i upgrade my motherboard as well? i got an ga-z97-d3h...

You are not going to be able to cheap out on the power supply
I use to have that PSU and didn't have issues with it but I didn't use it for a graphics card that extreme. Definitely get something bigger. You don't want a capacitor shortening out and damaging any other parts.

I would personally get something around 750W+ area and at least 80plus silver or above.
