Upgrading to SSD in Dell Inspiron 1505 - how to reinstall OS?

I am fixing this old Inspiron laptop up for a friend. One of the actions is replacing the old SATA HDD with an SSD. Cloning didn't work due to bad sectors on the HDD (I tried to use Seagate DiscWizard). I downloaded the XP ISO from here and burned it to a CD but the computer won't boot to the CD. I changed the boot order to CD ROM first in the BIOS. I wonder if the Dell is looking for a recovery partition or something?

First make sure if the Dell is a 32-bit you are downloading the proper one. It does not seem to specify on the page.

That's not an XP installation .iso, it's the Service Pack 3 .iso. There are no legal download sources for XP installation media.
