Upgrading to Windows 10 from pirated 8.1

Would you be kind and tell us how the installation and activation go? I'd be curious as to whether the process works, or the license server rejects it as already being used.

Many thanks. I'll learn something.

The activation went fine but it was on a pirated ISO of 8.1, im currently creating an official ISO through creating installation media, Once i've done a clean install using an ISO from microsoft, I'll try and activate and let you all know!

Thanks for that, will i literally have to talk to someone or is it automated?

Also, how will over the phone activation tell me if its a genuine code? I've never done it before

It's automated If you have smartphone they sms u a link. No talking involved.

Thanks Jon, This method will tell me if i've bought a non - legit key straight away will it?

Maybe, maybe not.
Often, keys from those sources become blocked once the activation servers figure it out. May be right now, may be next week/month.

Hmm, worth a gamble for £20 anyway! If it does come back as non - legit I'll update this post & let everyone know

I bought Windows 7 Pro SP1 (OEM) from Kinguin (similar to G2A) for £28 and registered it via the telephone (smart phone)

I validated it via http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/genuine then the 'Validate Now' button.

Where people go wrong is they enter the key at the end of the windows installation then DONT register it which results in the key being used by someone else.

I will let you all know how the W10 installation goes...

It's upgraded to windows 10 perfectly & it's accepted the key and I'm activated.

I'll just wait and see if I get any errors over the next few weeks / months now!

Thanks mate, do you know if there'll be a new server OS to with windows 10?

I can get a refund from them apparently anyway & I paid through paypal so they haven't really got my bank details!

Even if I don't get a refund i'll just accept that I've lost £20

On the other hand if it all turns out great then i'll of saved myself £100 😉
