I am currently running windows 7, with a valid key, on a pc I built myself.
I will be building a new pc in a few weeks, and I was wondering if there is a way to get windows 10 on the new pc without buying a new key?
As in, would I be able to upgrade to windows 10 on my current pc, link that with a Microsoft account, build the new pc, use a USB to install windows, then activate windows by signing into the Microsoft account?
Or what would be the correct way to go about it?

You'll have 2 systems, but still only one license.

You can Upgrade that current Win 7 to Win 10, link that to your MS account, and then use that Win 10 license on the new system (maybe). Of course, after a fresh install on the new system.

You can install Win 10 on the new system, and use your existing Win 7 license to activate that Win 10 installl.

Both of those leave the old system with no OS license.

Or, sell most of all of the old system with its Win 7 license, and use that money to purchase a brand new Win 10 for the new system.

I plan to use a couple of parts from the current pc in the new one (psu/ssd) so i won't have a use for the rest of the build. I will go with your second suggestion of using the windows 7 key to activate the fresh install of windows 10.
