I know nothing about video cards, but have already read articles and watched videos on upgrading my video card. None of them answered what may be a stupid question:
My Alienware Area 51 machine (circa 2009) has twin GeForce GTX 285 with an SLI setup (bridge?)
The machine has 12GB DDR RAM and an i7 quad core processor, so I see no need to replace it, but my GPU needs a refresh.
Do I need to buy 2 video cards to replace the set of 2 I have now or will one suffice? Beyond wattage and physical space inside the tower, are there other things that would restrict what card I can purchase?
Any personal preferences for cards under $200?
Thank you,
David
