Hello!!

I had a XFX Geforce GTX 295 for about 2 years now and it suddenly stopped working. I pretty much think it's dead!

My computer config is as follows:

Core i7 920
6GB DDR3 1333 triple channel
MoBo MSI X58M
2x500HD Seagate
PSU Seventeam 850W

Since my old graphics died I'm buying a new one. A read a lot of reviews here and I decided not to go on a high-end one since I don't have PCI-e 3.0 (only 2.0)...

I read about the HD5850 being a good one. I found a MSI R5850 Twin Frozr II for 322 dollars (the cheapest place I could find here in Brazil). Is that a good deal? And is that a good graphics or should I go for another model?

I plan on playing SC2, Diablo3, BF3... But I usually don't go for the max graphics, just 1080p with no AA...

Any help would be good!

Thank you all!!

No mate I am just saying where did the top picture come from and is it an 8800GTX cause if it is could not run the game smooth at that image quality it would be a slide show whereas on the console it is smooth. I have no comment on the bottom console image.

Did you miss the part in my post saying that the 8800GTX can play crysis like that (1280x800, very high settings, 30-35fps avg) :??:

That image was not 1280x800 it was clearly 1080P which is my point the 8800GTX cant play Crysis smooth at that image quality display in the pic you posted on the top. I should know I was one of the first people to own an 8800GTX and even today with all the patches and updates at 1080P max settings in Crysis the 8800GTX gets 13fps to 15fps MAX

you have lost every argument, give it up man and accept the facts...

8800GTX = (1680x1050, high settings, 30-35fps avg) or (1280x800, very high settings, 30-35fps avg)
vs
consoles = (1152x720 and 1024x720(for ps3), (mixed)medium settings, 25-30fps, small fov, game stops once in a wheel to load the next part of the map)

It's no argument when the 8800GTX FACT cannot max out Crysis with even remotely smooth framerates at todays common resolutions of 1680x1050 and 1920x1080. The thing you must not know is that the console version of Crysis is running on the new CryEngine3 and the PC version of Crysis is running on the CryEngine2 so it's not an apples to apples compairo. I understand that the 8800GTX could make Crysis look much better but it would play like complete ass @ well under even a meager 30fps.

The 8800GTX can max out crysis FYI.
Console.....
Why do people bring in the console as a debate?
I am sure most of us here on Tom's own systems that have maybe 10x the performance of a PS3/xbox 360 GPU wise.
So could an GTS 250, 8800GT, 8800GTS, HD 4830, HD 4850, ect ect ect ect they can all max out Crysis but not with playable framerates tho just like the 8800GTX cant play it with playable framerates when maxed out unless maybe 800x600 windowed.

16xAA maxed out and doing 20fps.
Get real.
Turn down the AA to 4xAA that will be playable at 30+fps.
Well I don't have that res like most people and like I say I OWN the 8800GTX it sucks for todays games at real world resolutions. Why would I move down in resolution and use an old and slow card to play an old game that sucks to me anyways LOL.

You stated that the 8800GTX cannot run crysis maxed out, not even at 800x600.
That alone means you know nothing and are spurting crap from your mouth.
This is not a debate.
The 8800GTX can max crysis.
Do not get sore about it and please move on.

Videos show otherwise.
If you were to take that 16xAA off and put it to 4xAA what do you think would happen?
He gets 20fps at 16xAA at 1280x1024 with max settings...
Max settings is actually all settings cranked with AA off.
I had a G92 9800GTX+ which is as fast as a 8800GTX.
I used to play at 1080p with no AA at high settings with 25-30fps, it was very playable back then.
You lie that video did not have good framerate 20fps is not playable 8800GTX is old man its not fast anymore LOL AT any rate you are a lost cause just like bickering over what old card can or cant play Crysis get a life man peace loser !

I understand you. I live in Mexico :sol: and for example an ASRock extreme6 z77 mobo that cost $175 us dollars, here you will get it for $700!! It's crazy. But yeah, go for the gigabyte 560 ti. Thats what I have in my build and I havent looked back on it. Thing is I got it for $290 US dollars but if you really like your games then get it and it'll probably last you for 3 years. After all it has a 3 year manufacturer warranty and won't overheat as much in the wheather we live in :D

The 560Ti is a great little card.
...
Downside is higher heat output and slightly louder under full load(GTX 295 is louder).

Yeah, overheating is a big factor in the equation and I'm not really sure if the OP would want to spend more on a better cooling solution

You were proven wrong.
So.... where is this argument of yours that holds any water?
Just move along and let this thread stay open.
OL just keep believing that an 8800GTX 768mb can max out Crysis I will be playinf on real hardware good luck with trying to work it with the 8800GTX tho.

You argument from the beginning was that a consoles play crysis(and any game) better than a 8800, and I prove to you that the 8800 play crysis(and any game) much better than consoles.

crysis on 8800GTX = (1680x1050, high settings, 30-35fps avg) or (1280x800, very high settings, 30-35fps avg)
vs
crysis on consoles = (1152x720 and 1024x720(for ps3), (mixed)medium settings, 25-30fps, small fov, game stops once in a wheel to load the next part of the map)

so you see now why you got owned?

Funny cause I believe I am the only one here that used the 8800GTX and own it and I said nothing of a console being better at all games than an 8800GTX. In this contex the console is a better more cost effective option.

Me too, I had the 8800GTX in the past, however that don't make me more or less trustworthy.
and how a console is more cost effective when a $50 GPU play games with better graphics and performance than consoles?
even a prehistoric ATI X1950 still can play games like Crysis 2 with equal settings to consoles link
