Hi, need explanation please, I have very little knowledge about UPS:

My UPS died yesterday. It's Prolink PRO700SFT, when I plugged into the power outlet it beeps non stop, and a code F04 appears on its screen. Then I read in the manual, it says the battery need to be replaced.
According to PSU calculator (https://outervision.com/b/O9qoSL), recommended UPS rating is 700 VA, my UPS has capacity of 650 VA. Is my PC too powerful for the UPS?

I bought the UPS in 2015 iirc, my PC was this (https://outervision.com/b/RgLYNt), recommended UPS rating is 500 VA.
Before I added RX 480 to my current rig, the recommended rating is still 500 VA.

Is my guess right, that my current rig is too powerful for the UPS to handle?
Do I need to replace the battery with larger capacity or just buy a new UPS (maybe 800 VA or something like that)?

Solution
UPS batteries just don't last that long with 3-5 years being the stated typical life expectancy and if you get a lot of power outages they wear out faster.
You can put a larger battery in if it will fit, but chances are it won't.

Up to you, replacing the batteries is cheaper and should last you a similar amount of time. Replacing the UPS is easier and means you can get a bigger one, but it likely won't last any longer either.

By the way the same thing happened to me a few weeks ago and I just replaced the batteries.

no, you are not overpowering that ups. if its cheaper, purchase a replacement battery. 3-5 years is about the average life expectancy for a ups battery so it is likely just time to replace the battery.

VA ratings should be about twice the average power consumption of your computer. your average power consumption generally much lower than the wattage in those generic calculators. Those generally calculate the max consumption and your computer will almost never reach that. In all likelyhood, you are only using 80-120w during average use unless you are putting heavy load on your cpu and/or gpu. basically that UPS is way more than you probably need, which is fine.

When using a UPS 2 things to consider first is it enough to power your computer till you can shut it down. Ups is not designed to keep it going just to prevent loss of power shutdown and loss of data or background functions that could affect your pc on starting back up. second is it compatible with your os so that if not home you can set your pc to auto shutdown with included software. This does an ordered shutdown. UPS is there as a safeguard only not a electrical backup. I ran a network and had UPS on all servers and saved me many headaches.

Currently in a week, I have only 3 days staying at home. And use it for gaming from 19:00 to 23:00. So it's just the battery at the end of its lifespan?

Yes, I bought the UPS because there is power outage at least once a month here, so I can safely shut down the PC.
If I'm not home I usually unplug it from the power outlet.

there are some software packages and even with ups that will test the battery and its capacity for both time and kva. look at your ups manufacturer and online for battery testing software, they aren't perfect but will get you in the ballpark. you can replace the battery easily if it bad its just 2 connections the + and - terminals.
