So, this is going to be a bit of a long one, but I want to give you all as much info as possible. My pc is around 5 years old and custom build. Around half a year ago, I started to notice my PC started having issues. Around 20 - 40 mins of use would lead to a system lock or full shutdown. So after about a month I just gave up. However, recently I thought I would like to upgrade my PC so I could play some new titles such as Cyberpunk etc etc. So I thought why not fix my PC as well as upgrading it. My previous PC specs before upgrade are listed here:

  • INTEL CORE I5 6500 OEM
  • Coolermaster HYPER TX3 EVO CPU Cooler
  • SEAGATE 1TB DRIVE
  • DDR4 8GB 2400MHZ Hyperx Fury Black -x2
  • MSI Z170A PC MATE DDR4 LGA1151
  • COOLERMASTER 500w PSU
  • NVIDIA GIGABYTE GTX 960 2GB Windforce GPU
The first thing I upgraded was my PSU as I assumed that the reason the power keeps cutting out would be the power supply, logically. I also bought a SSD just to have as a boot drive. I installed these two new bits of hardware, and I was able to launch into windows like normal. However, I still had the same issue where about 20mins of on time the computer would shut off. On the motherboard the EZ debug lit up next to DRAM. So I tried switching out all the Ram slots, I've tried just one card and I even bought a new card and I was still having the same issue. I also tried it without a GPU plugged in, and still the same, about 20 mins in the system would just shut off. The next logical port of call was to upgrade to a new motherboard. I also bought a new CPU cooler and thermal paste alongside this, which arrived this morning. So, I build everything together (New Motherboard, new GPU Cooler, new PSU, new boot drive and trying with both my old and new RAM sticks), but this time, I didn't get a post at all. Nothing. My peripheral wouldn't light up, plugged directly into the motherboard. I switched everything out to the old stuff to see if could at least get into the BIOS or something. But this still lead to a no post. Even with everything the same. The only thing I can think of is that the CPU now has a fresh bit of thermal paste on it, but surely that shouldn't stop the PC from booting entirely. Or maybe the CPU is now faulty but I just don't know.

Please let me know if there is anything which stands out as obvious or if I am missing something. I feel pretty confident in my ability to fix it but idk, I'm just very lost.

I will reply as soon as possible to any comments, I thank you in advance.
