My current case is a Sharkoon vg5-w (blue), their website says that their max CPU cooler height is of 160mm. ( https://en.sharkoon.com/product/1678/VG5-W )

The Noctua NH-D15S has a rated height of 160mm. (https://noctua.at/en/nh-d15s/specification )

From what the specifications mention it "should" fit, but I'd like some second thoughts.

Context: I'm currently using a Cooler Master H412R cooler, the recently failed (damaged bearing) and I get a boot error message (CPU fan error!). I could replace the fan but I am not happy with the temperatures I've been getting (50 idle - 90 on load, no overclock) I'd guess that the extreme summer weather of this year is partly responsible for the temps, but I think I'd be wise of me to upgrade anyways. If the answer is that the cooler won't fit I will probably resign to buying a new fan or getting myself an H7.

What CPU do you have? Unless you have a very hot CPU save yourself alot of money and get something like a Cryorig H7 or if you wanna alittle bigger the Cryorig H5 (which is also 160mm)

Regarding your original question unless your case is small then advertised and Sharkoon is lying then its faairly safe to assume it will fit.

Hey, I'm running an i7 7700k (Not de-lidded), but I generally overclock it (~4.6GHz)

I had to actually turn it back down to base clock speeds (4.2GHz) at the start of the summer due to it reaching 100 C's on load.
As I said before, on load the CPU is currently running at 80ish with peaks on 90ish. This summer has been rough. It's really hot and I don't really think an H7 will allow me to OC over the summer, but at least it will boot and run fine.
