USB 3.0 Extension Cable Operates at USB 2.0. Why?

I just purchased a USB 3.0 6ft extension cable in order to plug my memory card reader into the back of my computer. The card reader, extension cable, and USB port are all USB 3.0. When I plug the card reader without the extension it operates at USB 3.0 speeds, but when I plug in the extension, Windows 7 says that the device could run faster in a USB 3.0 port.

Is there anything I can do?

Thanks,
Caleb

Double check your extension cable has 4+5 connections on both of connector (male and female).

It does. Upon further experimentation, it seems that the memory card reader will operate at USB 3.0 with the extension if I use another A to Micro B cable other than the one that came with it.

It's quite odd.

Ya, I am not pretty sure but it may due to quality of cables.
