USB 3.0 not working in Windows 7 64bit

My external hard drive (USB 3.0) often disconnects after a short time when transferring large files. This does not happen in safe-mode however.

Also, I get the message that my external drive can increase in speed if connected to a USB 3.0 port.

All the latest USB 3.0 driver were installed from from the Gigabyte website.

I'm using a H97 motherboad. Just got this set up.

Are you using ports directly off the MB backplate or using headers to case front ports? If the latter, try switching to the direct port. It might be something as simple as a loose connection on the USB header cable.

Thanks, but I tried it both with the front ports and the back ports. I've now updated all the drivers, run the AVG antivirus and Malwarebytes. I also sent a message to customer support, and I'll probably need to wait until Monday for a response.

Don't want to be too personal, but I suffer from anxiety and depression, and right now I'm taking extra Xanax to deal with things. It's so frustrating to me.

I think I narrowed it down to my new USB3.0 hard drive enclosure. I have a new on on order. THANKS!!!
