USB 3.0 not working when I plug it into a USB 3.1 gen 1

Hello I have a question about my case and my motherboard. My Case which is the NZXT s340 has a USB 3.0 connector. My motherboard is the MSI B350 Tomahawk and it has a USB 3.1 gen 1. When I plugged the 3.0 connector into the the motherboard USB 3.1 gen 1 it will fit in but when I plug a usb cable into the case it will not work for example my iPhone USB would not charge. If you have any ideas please get back to me ASAP thank you.

Yes I used other usb related objects and they work except my iPhone charger.
