usb 3.0 on case to usb 2.0 on motherboard

Hello i am thinking about getting either a corsair obsidian 250d case or a cooler master elite 130 case and they both have usb 3.0 on the front. The motherboard that i want to get (
ASUS P8H61-I R2.0) only has 3.0 ports on the back I/O. Can i connect the usb 3.0 cables from the case to the usb 2.0 on the motherboard?

you will need a usb3,0 to usb2.0 adapter like this ,

You can get a pcie card with usb 3.0 and connect that to the front if you want to spend about $30

or if the cables are not a usb3.0 header but usb3.0 plugs you can get something like this

If I get this will I still USB 3.0 speeds or 2.0 speeds

usb 2.0 speeds to your front usb 3.0 which will be fine for usb sticks etc
but if you have a usb3,0 ports on the back i/o shield then use those for external HDD's etc
