Hello everyone,

I recently had some issues with my PC where my GPU died but finally got it back up and running with a replacement GPU and a new (used) CPU. The only downside is that the USB 3.0 ports on the rear of the motherboard (GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P) has stopped working. It will power devices but will not communicate with them. The USB 3.0 controller is enabled in the BIOS and I looked in the device manager but I am not seeing any port listed as 3.0 either. I tried installing the latest VIA USB 3.0 Driver available on here but it gave me an error saying that the hardware is not available. The ports were working fine before the GPU died so I'm not sure what could have caused it. I'm wondering if swapping the CPU without a fresh install may have messed with it and that's why it stopped working? I upgraded the CPU from AMD Phenom II X4 960T to a AMD FX-6300

PC Specifications:
Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P
AMD FX-6300
GTX 1050Ti
EVGA 600B1
WD 3.5" 500GB 5400 RPM
WD 3.5" 500GB 5400 RPM
Crucial MX500 500GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD

How old is the PSU?

BIOS version for your motherboard? The USB3.0 port on the motherboard are powered by the VIA® VL805 chip, per the specs page for the motherboard. Might want to install the the driver in compatibility mode, i.e, Right click installer>Properties>Compatibility tab>Windows 7(from drop down menu).

I'm wondering if swapping the CPU without a fresh install may have messed with it and that's why it stopped working?
If you swapped he motherboard, then an OS reinstall would've been warranted but I think a clear CMOS should suffice for good measure.

The PSU is about 6 years old.

According to dxdiag the BIOS is Ver: 04.06.05 with a BIOS date: 02/26/16

I'll try installing in compatibility mode in a bit and report back.

Also did you mean swapping the CPU? I'm seeing you said swapping the motherboard. I'll clear the CMOS and see if that helps as well.
