I recently bought a USB 3.0 to VGA adapter and it didn't work properly. I have two Asus VC239H monitors conntected to a EVGA GeFore 210 video card (one HDMI and the other on DVI) and I bought a USB 3.0 to VGA adapter to allow a third monitor to extend the desktop even further.
The problem I am having, after installing the drivers and Windows detecting the third monitor, the two monitors on HDMI and DVI go on and off every couple of seconds. The screen goes black and then back on and it is pretty bad to the point where I can't even get a response when I click or try to open things.
Not sure exactly what is happening. I already tried:
- Reinstalling the drivers the adapter came with several times
- Leaving the USB 3.0 to VGA adapter disconnected while the drivers were being installed
- Restarting the computer several times after the drivers were installed
- Tried installing a driver through Device Manager using the automatic search online method
- Playing around with the Windows Screen Resolution panel and setting it to view the VGA adapter anyways and other various combinations in that same window.
Any ideas? Maybe this adapter was just faulty? I got this one:

I think I'm going to try a USB 3.0 to DVI adapter next since the third, older monitor supports both VGA and DVI. if not can someone please post a fairly inexpensive video card that will allow for 3 displays please.
Thank you,
