Usb boot drive does not appear

Just finished my first build, on a b350 ASUS prime plus motherboard
Now, I’m in the bios and plug a usb in from the motherboard and the front panel io, both ports are able to supply power. The usb doesn’t show up. I checked my usb settings and all are enabled, what could be wrong?
