USB making hardware live

I recently bought a rocksmith cable and and plugged it into my USB ports both on the back and the front and they both made my strings live giving a painful electric shock this has happend before in the past with a blue snowball mic. WHAT is going on in my system that would be causing this I have a grounded plug and a grounded powerstrip but the grounded light has never came on since I've owned it

uhm, what? Could you explain what you mean by strings and live?

if the ground lighton the power strip is not on your wall plug/outlet is not properly grounded.
You can check it with a cheap tool.

High voltage is very dangerous and will kill you. If the plug is not grounded call an electrician!

uhm, what? Could you explain what you mean by strings and live?

I have an electric guitar ans when I plugged it into any of my usb ports they would go "live" which means they have a current running through them enough to give a shock

I have been a roadie /sound tech for bands most of 40 years now.
If your strings are hot ,99.9% of the time you do not have proper ground.
