[SOLVED] USB ports underpowering

Hi, a long time reader (or something more like searcher) / first time posting in forums.

I seemingly started having some USB underpowering issues today - mouse and keyboard stopped working on older type USB ports, but are working on USB 3.0 ports; phone does not properly charge on USB 3.0 either (displays as charging, but battery keeps going down), same issue with back and front ports. Initially quickly reseeded some of the main PSU to motherboard connections, though that didn't help (will try and do a more thorough job later in the evening, but I doubt that a lose connection is the cause). No recent changes to hardware or anything major software wise either.

Currently not really sure what the cause could be, so any advice on potential issues here or any tips for diagnostics would be much appreciated.

Custom build, 8 month old:
MSI AMD Ryzen AM4 X370 GAMING PLUS ATX
AMD RYZEN 7 1700 8-core Socket AM4
Palit GTX 1060 Super JetStream 6GB GDDR5
Corsair Vengeance 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3000 MHz
Corsair CX Series CX450M 450W 80 Plus Bronze Certified Modular ATX PSU
Samsung EVO 500GB SSD
2x WD Black 1TB HDD
1x WD Blue 1TB HDD (older HDD, from a previous build)

So this is what I found out. Today I was playing a game, like any other game when my keyboard and mouse started to disconnect a random times. I've notice this before but it was with Wifi adapter, peripherals, oculus sensors, etc. I didn't pay too much attention to it until the mouse and keyboard. I looked online and people say that you have to change the power plan options under advanced and change the USB selective settings off. (Which I do have it on off.) I've also heard that you have to disable USB 3.0. However, this was from the mouse, keyboard, etc from turning off. This could be your problem or it's something entirely different. I then looked at my PSU and discovered that it was on ECO mode. I just turned it off to see if that...

Because even when I'm using the computer and playing a game, the PSU would be on eco, and the fan on the PSU would not be running. So we will see if that's it. Other problems that I had with my recent computer build is that the rear case fan turns off randomly, and I literally just have to poke it, and it runs. It may be a power issue, it may not. Let me know if any of that helps.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I do believe changing the 'USB selective settings off' worked for me! (i.e. after switching it off, seems I can connect peripherals to even older gen ports now, haven't tried charging anything just yet). Really strange.. not sure what caused it - I assume it was on by default and did not have any issues with that so far, no major changes to software around the time of USB ports underpowering and have windows updates disabled.
Again, kudos for the help!
