USB problem with Gigabyte MA78G-DS3H

I have brand new MB Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H with old AthlonX2, 3GB DDR2-800 and HDD (everything worked perfectly in another MB). I've installed fresh Windows XP SP2.
Problem is that I can't use any USB device. When I plug USB disk, it appears in My Computer as Removable Disk with size 0B. I can't access any data on it. If I plug in printer, XP doesn't notice it's pluged in.
I've checked bios - USB EHCI controller is enabled (as default). Only USB keyboard and mouse are disabled.
I've reinstalled chipset drivers from gigabyte site. No change.
I've uninstalled every USB device in Device manager and restarted PC. No change.
Device manager reports for USB disk "device working properly".
I've checked disk in 2 other computer, it works fine.
If I check properties of any USB controller and if I open Resources tab ( other tabs work fine) , XP freezes. I have to stop it by task manager by end now. Faulty application is mmc.exe.
I thought it has to do something with front panel USB (I wasn't sure how to plug it in) so I unpluged it. But, no change.
I'm doing another check of HDD and RAM just to be sure. But, any other suggestion would be great.

I have just reinstalled windows +all drivers. HDD and RAM have no errors.
At first, when I put my tv tuner in front USB, computer got frozen. But, when I plugged same device in back USB, nothing happened. Now after restart, nothing happens if I insert it in front also. Same with usb disk.
I'm totally confused.
I've checked front usb panel connectors. I was afraid that I've installed it incorrectly. But, everything is correct (5v-red, dx- white,dx+ green, gnd-black).
Please, help!

Just installed Vista (no SP). It's the same. No USB recognized, USB disk appears as Removable device and it cannot be accesed.
LED on disk flashes continously. On other computer where it works fine, thi led flashes only when I copy some file. Here, it glows all the time.
So, after 2xXP and 1 Vista I'm sure it's hardware issue, and it's something to do with USB controller.

Just flashed newest BIOS. Before I've also tried altering usb options in bios
( leaving usb 1.1 , disabling 2.0 , enabling/disablig leagcy support etc. ). No change.
I've found 1 more man who encountered same problem with sam MB.
Has anybody else had usb problems with 780G MB?

Same problem, same mobo

Phenom X3 8450, 2 Gb DDR2 1066, BRAND NEW REAL 500W PSU, Latest drivers, Vista 64 Ultimate SP1, No addon cards (one SATA HDD and one PATA DVD-RW)

First, it destoyed my 1Gb Corsair flash pen, corrupting the FAT. Using recovery software managed to recover about half of my documents on another computer. My whife's pen, Verbtim Store'n'go 1Gb, survived, but with lots of errors. My external USB HDD, Packard Bell 500Gb Store&Play, recognized as unformatted. Genius USB gamepad not recognized and the webcam, Genius Look 312P, sometimes recognized, sometimes not.

For me the solution was also a VIA PCI-to-USB card and I also disabled from BIOS the EHCI support for the onboard ports. With this one, all the devices above worked perfect.

Noticed that in Linux Fedora Core 9 the onboard USB worked ok, transferring files from and to my external HDD with 2.0 speeds (10 Mb/s) and worked ok with the memory pens.

In conclusion, I don't think is a hardware issue (PSU or something), but AMD or Gigabyte must reconsider their USB drivers for Vista 64.

It was PSU. Just replace power supply and USB's will work fine.

I have the same problem with the same mobo. So far I tried so many hacks with no luck
My PSU is 550W Chieftech. It should be good enough for the parts I have. I will try with another PSU though.
