Hello
I have a PC running Windows 7 SP1 and have been experiencing wildly varying USB transfer speeds to an external drive.
I am using the same external drive attached to the same USB2 port and am copying the same file to the drive.
Sometimes the transfer speed is 6MB/sec and on other occasions it runs around 25-30 MB/sec.
I've tried disabling Windows Search/Indexing, also my file defrag program, and also checked that no other applications are hogging either drive, but have not been able to trace the problem.
Does anyone have some suggestions as to what I should try next please?
