Hi,
I'm hoping for some advice on a problem that I have had for years.
My home connection is 100Mb ADSL. My office (which is in the middle of knowhere) is only a 2Mb connection and 108 miles away (I am a homeworker). I have to connect to the office using Nortel Contivity VPN software (no option as it runs my SoftPhone and won't work with any other VPN option).
Now, the problem I have is that as soon as the VPN software connects to the office, all network traffic from my PC is directed via the VPN tunnel - meaning that my internet speed on the PC reduces from around 80Mb to a painfully slow 0.35Mb!
I have checked the hardware at the other end and there is absolutely no way of turning on split tunneling. So I am forced to use the broadband connection at the other end which makes my browsing experience extremely painful.
I have tried all sorts of ways of getting the PC to use the gateway on my local machine, but as soon as the software kicks in it creates it's own connection and assigned an IP address on the remote network. This means and any local settings are "ignored".
I would be happy if I could just have Internet Explorer use my local network connection. Could I, perhaps, use my 300mpbs wireless adapter as a "second" network connection?
Any advice on a work around would be greatfully received!
