$30 on Facebook Marketplace. Two-hour drive away. A friend picked it up for me before a visit. It boots fine, but AMD drivers will not install, not will any decent Windows 10 drivers, really, low resolution. CPUZ looks suspicious.

The guy claims ignorance. I was pretty straightforward with my message, not making accusations, just asking if there was a mining bios on the card, wanting to know so I could fix it, and he communicated back. But he said he didn't think so, that he had it on his computer and played games on it.

I am curious if the CPUZ readings can tell any of you anything useful. I have flashed maybe 3 video cards across 20 years, so flashing video cards still makes me nervous. A Vega 56 I got on eBay was the last card I flashed; I think the behavior of this card now is similar. Thanks

I think it is an ASUS ROG STRIX RX 570 Gaming OC

Honestly, if the BIOS is correct, I'd simply suspect a failing RX 570. Facebook Marketplace is a dumping ground for people to get rid of their broken or fake GPUs because unlike eBay, you'll rarely have buyer protection on a purchase from another user.

I have been reading about the atikmdag-patcher.

If my bios says it is the right number, could it still have been modded or edited but still have the same name? And if it was flashed back, could the card still remember that it used to have a mining bios even though the right one is back on it? T

"People like to <Mod Edit> with the bios. The AMD drivers have bios checks embedded in them to see if its a genuine card or not, so when its an invalid bios, the drivers just say, 'Im not about to let this fake ass card work correctly.' The atikmdag patcher just bypasses all the driver checks."
