Question Using an Intel K CPU on a motherboard that doesn't support overclocking ?

Wasup.I got a i5-9400f and its bottlenecking my rtx 3060 ti when im playing cpu intensive games.Now for this socket the best option would be a i9-9900k the problem is that i can't find a non K version of that i9 so i was thinking about going with the K version but my motherboard doesn't support overclocking.

My question is if i upgrade to the i9-9900k will it work normally on the base speed ? I don't care about overclocking i just want it to work find on the normal base speed.Im asking because i heard even tho it can work maybe its not gonna work properly because of volting or something i don't remember exactly what i saw.Thanks.

K doesn't mean you have to overclock it, just that it's possible to do that and will work anywhere 9400f does. Since i9-9900k has higher base and boost frequency it should help with your problem.

It's not about "volting" but power/watts needed for it run at full speed. That depends on VRM part on your MB, Which MB do you have ? Does VRM section has a cooler/heat sink ?
 
Just check the specs of the motherboard. If it supports this cpu it’ll work, you just won’t be able to use OC functions the motherboard doesn’t have that others might have.
 
How did you determine this?
If you are talking about bottleneck, when i play some games like rdr2 or assassin's creed origins which is known for being a cpu intensive game my cpu is going up to 100% usage struggling and my gpu is going down to like 50-60 %.

For exemple in rdr2 outside towns my gpu is at 90-100% im getting around 90-100 fps on ultra but in towns is dropping to even 50 fps and my cpu is at 100% usage struggling, meanwile my gpu is chilling at around 50.

my motherboard is a Asus PRIME H310M-R R2.0 i don't know exactly whats the vrm thing

This is a very basic mobo, without having looked at any benchmark of this mobo I'm going to guess that it could be holding back your current 9400f CPU.
Unless the bios is very bad the 9900k will work on it but it might be limited to the same speed of the 9400f if that's all the mobo can do.

So the mobo can support these cpu but it doesn't let them be at full potential ? That's so weird.

The K suffix processors have a marginally stronger clock vs. the base unit.
Not showing up on the support list may simply mean that the H310 chipset does not support overclocking.
I note that no other supported processors have the K suffix either.
The i9-9900 processors are scarce on ebay.
I think you chances are good that a i9-9900K will work on your motherboard.
But, i9-9900K is going for some $200 on ebay.
The I7-9700 is more like half that.
What you get with the I9 is 16 processing threads vs. 8 for the 9700, and a single thread performance that is perhaps 10% better.

I don't use ebay but where i live we got a similar site and the prices are exactly like you said.The i9 is around 200$ and the i7 9700 around 100$ but i was asking because i found one i9-9900k today for only 105 $ and the sellers looks trustworthy so i was thinking about getting it but i wasn't sure if everythings its gonna be ok.

In the worst case, how much is a good mobo gonna cost you?! Maybe it's worth it.

I mean probably not much but the thing is i kinda don't wanna go that far to change the whole motherboard because there's alot of things you need to keep in mind and also im not the biggest pc builder, i can change a cpu or some stuff but i never built a whole thing by myself and i don't wanna go that deep.Also if im actually taking the decision of getting a new motherboard i will buy something for AMD because i just feel like ryzen cpu's are better for price-performance.
