Hey guys, im trying to get a friends xbox 360 wired controller to work with his new laptop, however its not working on any games compatible with the joystick. The pc is recognizing that there is an xbox 360 controller plugged in, and that drivers are updated and fully functional, but the controllers home button appears to be searching for a device. Really lost on this one, ive searched for answers and people say it should be automatically working, but no cigar. When i do a diagnostic on the controller it says that it needs a usb 2.0 port to work, but then i dont understand how people get it to work with 3.0. Please help, and thanks guys

generally USB 3.0 needs drivers to work properly. These come with the motherboard drivers. I would recommend seeing if your friend has installed the USB 3.0 drivers on his system, and if not, find his motherboard online, and go through the manufacturer's site and download the USB 3.0 drivers.

Also make sure that it's an official 360 controller, I'm pretty sure that afterglow knockoff crap won't work on PC.
