I listen to my TV with only headphones, but the headphone audio out jack on my TV buzzes. So I am trying to find a way to listen with headphones but bypass the jack.

Here's a list of the equipment I want to use:
  • TV: LG 32LK450 32-Inch 1080p
    • audio jack sounds tinny and buzzes even with volume off.
  • Minix Windows 10 Mediabox
    • I play local files with it using VLC, works great, audio is excellent when I plug headphones directly here.
    • video stutters when streaming Netflix/Prime, possibly because the processor can't handle it.
  • Roku Streaming Stick
    • added this to solve the streaming issue
    • to listen to both Minix and Roku via headphones, I have to use the audio jack which buzzes.

The only other output on the LG TV is an optical (the RCA are all input only). I looked into converting optical to 3.5mm audio, but the equipment is heading north of $60 whereas I can get a new TCL 43" TV for $219, so I was hoping there's another way?

Thanks!

RX-V377... absolutely. ANY receiver with optical and will do it, and I still have not seen a receiver without headphone output, maybe need a 1/4" to 3.5mm adapter but that about it. If plug in headphone doesn't mute the speaker then am sure there is a speaker A/B off button somewhere.
That sounds$ about right. I guess u can bust open the TV and attempt to fix the jack, don't kill yourself.
As an alternate solution: would using the optical out into an amplifier save me from buying the converter? I have never used an optical connection, so I don't know how they work. Also--I don't want the TV sound coming out of any speakers, only the headphones, is that possible to do? Here's the amplifier I own (Yamaha RX-V377):
