Hi guys,
I want to buy Intel Optane memory and can't understand the answer to my question.
Can Intel Optane DC SSD such as this act as RAM memory?
On the one hand, it's written that 3D XPOINT technology is responsible for enabling this option (against NAND-FLASH memory which cannot provide error-free access to memory )
On the other hand, I read that only Optane DC DIMM is able to act as RAM. This option is more expansive and requires Intel Xeon 2nd generation.
Somebody can provide me with an answer? Thank you

Optane is not RAM.

That one you've linked is an actual SSD. A dive you install things to. Not RAM.

Thank you very much for your answer.
If this is so, than I have 2 questions:
1)What is the difference between the optane I linked and something like P3700 SSD? From what I understand, the optane have much more cycles and much more speed. Am I right?
2) So you say, only this new version of Optane can act as RAM?
I know this is not RAM, the question is if it can act as Volatile ram in addition to being persistent memory.
