Hello,
My router (Asus RT-AX82U) has USB storage and I would like to use it as a NAS.
I don't need high speed and fancy features. I need to store documents, photos, and videos and access these files remotely (not only from home).
  1. How secure is this setup?
  2. How will it affect the data corruption rate?
Buying a separate NAS device seems like an overkill, but it might be the next best option if the router NAS turns out to be unreliable.

Thanks

It can be secure if you use a VPN to remotely access. It doesn't look like the AX82U is supported by Merlin firmware. I don't know if the base firmware has an OpenVPN server. That is the secure way to access.
