using toothpaste on cpu

It's better than nothing (not much of a commendation, but there isn't exactly detailed info on toothpaste conductivity), but proper thermal paste costs about the same, so why would you bother? The stuff even comes with most, if not all heat sinks (thermal paste, that is, not toothpaste).

:lol: can't believe it and the way you say "too late" i can just imagine the scenario. wow that is funny. well mate that cpu might have to be changed after taking that gamble. get a thermal paste ASAP.

The problem with toothpaste is it dries up very fast and looses any heat conducting properties it may have had... it still conducts heat but very badly... I can only see it as being used in a case of extreme emergency... even then I'd rather go metal to metal contact at that point...

I HIGHLY recommend you order some heat paste online before you kill your cpu.. or buy some at the local frys or computer parts store (if you have one)...

If anything, they sell generic heat paste at The Home Depot... You can use that.. its not amazing but it does the job and is way way way better than toothpaste or metal to metal contact...
