USR Modem Problem

My internal US Robotics v.90 56K modem has the following problem : while browsing ( IE5 or Netscape ) , and viewing a completed displayed web page , I will suddenly here an audible click within the PC and the Web page will clear and re-load - very annoying - sometimes quite often happens .
