Hiya,

I have installed SP2 for my XP pro system. Before I did
the update my USR win-modem was working fine using the
default drivers provided my MS. After installation of the
SP2, the modem could no longer be detected, drivers
couldn't be re-installed, and WinXP refused to recgonise
that it was a PNP modem, throgh it was deteected fine
with WinXP SP1.

Roll back SP2.

Not quite the answer I was hoping for. I would have
thought the MS would have at least allowed it's own
drivers to upgrade correctly.
I will continue to look.

Buy a hardware modem.
