[citation][nom]porksmuggler[/nom]"The opinion seemingly changed over time"Not for everyone...compared to some other AAA titles, it's still a vignette release. Not complaining though, as long as they don't charge $49.99 for a full title./Bought both L4D and L4D2/Only paid $35 for both (not each)[/citation]

Nice, I stuck to my guns and said I wouldn't get L4D2 unless I could get it for cheap, real cheap. I think I paid between $10-$15 when Steam had that insane summer sale. Regardless I think the "quick release" cycle isn't a great thing, just look what happened to L4D (original), it was...left for dead muahahhaahhahaah!

Positive reviews of a good game while those who chose not to pay again so soon and instead stopped playing are lost customers. I don't have access to the numbers, but I would bet a dollar LFD2 didn't sell as many copies as it's predecessor.

I want to make selective purchases where I get a good "bang for my buck" effect from the game. LFD did that for a while until the sequel came out and dried up most of the players. This is the same problem seen in the other team shooters where each latest game removes players from the player base and shortens the life of a game.

This promotes me to look for games that focus on the single player content so I know I get as much out of the game as was designed to go into it.

Hmmm... how come Valve can release game sequels (with improvements) much faster than Epic? UT3 sucked because of console-Menu GUI, Crappy maps, not enough maps - yet the game-play and engine is excellent except for the missing Zoom control of Vehicles.

Glad we have many companies to choose from, for when someone drops the ball... Epic / ID... 😉

The above quotes were taken out of context and Valve only said that it is a possibility that it could happen. Not that it will happen:

IMO Valve is good for one thing only. Half-Life. And they haven't released their "Episodes" as promised. The whole point to the "episodes" was to make development time shorter... so out with Ep3 already.
