[SOLVED] Very low FPS on GTX 1080

Hello guys, so for some context I will leave my pc specs in the following link:

https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/37423566

Anyways, so whenever I play warzone for example, I never get over 65 fps on low settings. GTA 5 is the same thing, brutally low fps on even medium settings. Is there any setting that I should change or a part I should upgrade? Thanks for any replies.

Solution
Okay, the CPU temp was recorded at around 93 degrees using HWInfo. I don't think my motherboard displays the voltages.
If your CPU is 93 degrees C, it is going into thermal throttling and slowing itself down to keep from damaging itself . I would look to upgrade your CPU cooler and get those temps down (specially if you aren't overclocking)!! That should help with performance if the CPU is running at lower temps.
That's the GPU temperature. I have a 720w Gygabyte power supply. Also, I'm still fairly new to pc building so please keep that in mind :) I'm not sure what you mean by system specs, or how do I check it?

Make sure you have Ray Tracing disabled in Warzone, this will kill your FPS with that GPU, or really any GPU (IMO). A friend of mine ran around 125 FPS with a GTX 1080 in Modern Warfare (he didn't play Warzone) but at lower settings.

Your temps don't look to crazy when gaming, a little high but well within the threshold.

If that's the GPU temperature....under load....it's good.
Just FYI....many times with low fps...it's temps or the power supply.
720 watts should be enough if the power supply is good.
For the CPU temp....there are lot of different apps...Afterburner is one.....HWInfo is another. I would use HWInfo.
Once you run it....just let it run....it will show you all the data from the sensors.
It will also save the high and low points.
So I would install it.....run it...run your game that isn't running right...then exit out....then look at how hot the CPU got.
ALSO....depending on the MB....HWInfo will also record the voltages. The main ones are +12V, +5V and + 3.3V. Please post the high and low values from HWInfo for those three voltages.

Hey, I don't have ray tracing enabled. But it's really weird that my fps doesn't change based on my graphics settings

So do I just get a new cpu cooler? Will any of them do?

Yes and no... You have to find one that will fit your case and supports your CPU socket (which most will). If going for standard Heat Sink Fan setups, you want to make sure you will have enough clearance from the motherboard to the side of your case for the HSF (as some are rather large and don't fit all cases). If you are going to an AIO (All-in-one) liquid cooling, you will want to make sure you case can fit the radiator size and fan setup.

Something like the Corsair Hydro Series H60 will fit in most all cases, as it can replace the rear case fan with the setup. As for a standard HSF, I have always been a fan of the Cooler Master Hyper 212's based on performance and price.

Hey thank you so much for your help! I checked again and the temps were at 97 degrees!! Do you think that’s for sure the reason why the FPS doesn’t change and the game stutters too sometimes? Anyways, are any of these fans the one you recommended?

1. Yes... if you CPU is running at 97 degrees C, it is running way to hot (thermal throttling) and will cause issues with the system in general.

2. Yes, that is the Hyper 212 I mentioned. It will be up which one you want.

It looks to be an aftermarket HSF, which typically is a good thing.

Have you tried taking it off, cleaning off the thermal compound with rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth, re-apply thermal compound (I like Arctic MX-4) and re-seat the HSF? It could be the HSF is not properly seated or doesn't have good thermal contact, so the temps are running high. I would try that before buying a new HSF, unless you just like the look of the Hyper 212 and wanting to go ahead and replace.

Yes, it should be the same one you use on a GPU, though not sure why you would need it on a GPU, unless you are converting a standard fan setup to an AIO until that you have to take it apart to do, otherwise, I normally never mess with my GPU's "physical" setup.

Hello guys, I have been playing warzone for a bit and I noticed that my game never reaches the expected FPS, in fact it barely even stays at 60 FPS. I started looking around and noticed this as my CPU temperature. I recently purchased a cooler master Hyper 212. I was wondering if I should expect drastic results or small ones after I change the cpu cooler. Or is the problem somewhere else?

Your image shows the CPU is thermal throttling, which will impact your performance. Once you install the new HSF, you should see those numbers down in the 60's or less under load and running like it should. You should see performance closer to expectations with GTX 1080 (though at 1080p resolution will be more bottlenecked by the CPU).
