Hi guys -

Got a very strange issue with my 2 month old PC - got a custom gaming build from Scan Computers that freezes when I leave it idling but not during gaming. The problem seems to happen more frequently when I've been gaming, come off the game and leave the PC idle. Nothing responds and I need to hold down the power button to restart.

I've tried all the usual troubleshooting tactics, memtest and DISM commands but no joy so far as everything seems to be in working order. I've also sent the PC back to Scan, they left it idle for 48 hours and couldn't replicate the error but when they sent it back to me it has seemed to return. I've tried using a different HDM and different extension cable as running out of ideas now. The only thing I haven't tried is a different monitor but can't see that being the issue.

Specs -
Intel Core i7 13700F 16C/24T
ASUS TUF GAMING B760-PLUS WIFI D4
32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB SL DDR4 3600MHz
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080
Samsung SSD 980 1TB

I will start taking proof to scan like video recording the problems and tell them nicely to support your computer and fix it because its brand new PC and should not really freese or make you any promblems. Other thing you can check is your GPU is it overclocked and turn down settings and such and check CPU temps and try and speed up your fans and such!. Also Monitor wont make any difference

I agree it's Scan's duty to sort things out.

Have you checked the Windows Event Viewer System logs for red errors?

In Windows Power Plan, does the OS shut down the disk drive and put the monitor to sleep after 20 to 30 minutes? Do you use a screen saver.

There's just a vague chance that "power saving" features are stopping the computer from waking up when you move the mouse or operate the keyboard after a long rest period.

In Device Manager, try disabling Power Management for all USB Hubs, Ethernet chipsets, etc.

I disable all power saving options when installing Windows. Some devices do not recover gracefully after going to sleep.
