Hello, I haven’t found anything related to this issue anywhere on the internet, so I thought I would start a discussion.

I have a Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 laptop with the following specs:

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 7435HS
  • GPU: RTX 4070
  • RAM: 24 GB
  • Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD

When I launch a game (such as CS2), I sometimes experience an issue where I only get 30 FPS. Using a CPU monitoring tool, I can see that my CPU usage is at 80-90%. However, when I open Task Manager and then return to the game, the FPS jumps to 300, and CPU usage drops to 20-30%.

Task Manager does not show any application consuming that much CPU, which makes the issue even more confusing.

What I have tried so far:

-Scanning for malware multiple times
-Repairing Windows system files
-Updating all drivers
-Trying various fixes

Unfortunately, none of these solutions have worked. If anyone has experienced a similar issue or knows how to fix it, please share your suggestions.

Check to see if your laptop is pending any BIOS updates. Then use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(intel, AMD and Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then manually install the latest GPU driver sourced from Nvidia's support site in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

Moved thread from CPUs section to Laptop Tech Support section.

I updated the BIOS to the latest version. Also, why do you think the driver is causing an issue?
