Video card choice

Hello guys, I'm going to buy a new video card but I wonder if my CPU isn't too old for the second video card below.

CPU - Athlon II X4 630
RAM - DDR3 1333 MHz
PSU - CM 550 W

The options are:
1. PALIT GTX650TI 1GB D5 - I think this will be OK for my cpu
2. PALIT GTX660 2GB D5 - I'm not sure if this isn't too good for my CPU




So, my question is: is my CPU old for GTX660? I mean is it worth buying the faster card?

Whats your max resolution and budget.you cpu is old but it is ok for gaming as still its quad core.

If the choice is between these two cards, get the 660. People talking about CPU bottlenecking are way overblowing it. Games like graphics muscle first and foremost. BUT, you may be able to get a 7870 for around the same price which may be a better buy.

If you have a +3 GHz quad-core CPU, or SB i3 (hyper-threaded dual-core) or better, get the best GPU you can afford. In most games on the market you'll run out of GPU power long before you run out of CPU power.

I mean your processor isn't bad I feel a mid grade gpu would be more suited for it. I would definitely start looking around the haswell/ generation after that point to perhaps jump into upgrading (due to the lower power consumption, added performance). And there will be a larger jump in 2014 with Maxwell or w.e AMD has to offer then as well. So what I'm saying get a 660 to get by now when you get to the point where you are comfortable upgrading your rig get something better

To be honest I prefer nvidia, because sometimes I use linux and if AMD has poor drivers for windows for linux is worse. Anyway, so you guys think that gtx 660 is better choice for my hardware?
