I have an ASUS Z790 Gaming WIFI7 motherboard and I’m trying to install a Gigabyte GeForce RTX3060 Gaming OC12G (rev 2.0) and I keep getting a “no signal” on my monitor. Are these compatible?

Yes the monitor is connected to theGPU, but this is a new build and I can’t even get into the BIOS. I’m planning to install Win 11 Pro , if I can get a picture on my monitor. I’ve changed my HDMI cable with no luck. I’ve also swapped out the video card, no help.

No luck. Do you think my Motherboard could be DOA
Unlikely.

Start the usual investigation process, clear CMOS (there should be a switch usually nowadays for that), check your board make noises when you turn on PC, check if fans spin, remove all RAM sticks and only leave one in, so on and so forth.

GPU will come later, after you actually manage to get something going with iGPU.

Your CPU does have iGPU, I hope? It's not one of them KF CPUs?

And yes, might as well provide full specs.

hi
some new motherboards see the 3060 cards as "legacy" so you would need to go into bios.... then advance to "boot" and check it so all other devices are "legacy" .. try this it should sort it...

if not the other issues could be your cable. , is it "hdmi", "Displayport", "dvi". you should try all of them

when computer it turned on does it boot fully into windows? i know you have no display.. but you can check my looking at keyboard lights " if numb lock is on" , try pressing "caps lock" if that lights up.. your into windows (well the login screen if thats setup). this means its the drivers for the graphics card.. if noting its lite up.. then its another issues.

motherboard?

usually it pays to give us full system specs !
Motherboard is ASUS Z790 Gaming WIFI7. I just got off the phone with ASUS support and if I want to use all 4 memory slots, there is only 1 kind of memory which is $600+. I’m going to just use 2 slots and it will cost me $130. I can’t believe there is only one specific memory stick that will work with all 4 slots.

As long as its ddr5 XMP not expo ram ( expo ram is really AMD only ) then any 4 sticks of ram ( as long as same speeds so buy them as a set of 4 should work) not sure where Asus is coming from here..

pc part picker isnt showing any 4x8 only 4x16gb ram but that said im sure there is kits with ddr5 4x8 xmp !!

That said im not sure if intel suffer the same issues as AM4 did with 2 x8 then add another 2x8 could cause issues ..

I live in the 2x16 ecosystem now as i use mainly M-atx or itx boards

with ram,, its 1 of those things were you might try a certain ram not on QVL list and it works..
corsair seems to be stable ddr5 ram (like it was on ddr4). its most compatable. so you might have better luck with that. you could try 4x16gb. with 4800/5200 speeds.
or settle for 2x32gb at higher speeds at 6400+ of if you have the cash 2x 48gb sticks at 6400mts
