Video card issues...

The video/graphics problem I'm having appears to be simple, but the source of
the problem is hard to pin down. On the system in question, I'm using an
Nvidia 440MX/AGP/64mb. The system is Windows XP with SP2, and latest drivers
for video card and directx 9.0c. Running dxdiag shows now issues and the
tests run fine; however, when playing a game, (the Sims2 for instance), the
mailboxes and other random things are pure white. Other games also have
similar problems...like the graphics will randomly become corrupted, showing
an intense red or other graphical glitches. I've tested the cards memory,
the system memory, formatted and reinstalled windows xp from scratch, etc.
Is it possible that such issues could be due to a dying power supply? No
glitches appear running normal desktop programs. Also, I've tried to
different videa cards...the one stated above and an Asus Geforce FX
5200...the same problem occurs with either card. Any help or suggestions is
greatly appreciated!

What does the interior temperature gauge say? I've seen this when the system
gets too hot (as when playing games). When was the last time you cleaned the
system? Are the heat syncs clogged with dirt? What about the fan screens
(you DO have fan screens don't you?)

I'm going to try your suggestions first, then will respond to what happens.
It very well could be dirt or the system getting hot. Thanks for the tip and
hopefully my next post will be good news :)
