This is already one of the best laptops on the market IMO. replacing the low power CPU with something more powerful just makes it near perfect. i'm really am going to have trouble resisting the purchase. one of these would make LAN parties so much easier.

most powerful 17 inch on the planet and most powerful desktop in the universe? Was he just trying to see how many lies he can get into one promo? Asus's gaming laptop blows their 17 inch out of the water for a lower price point and I could easily build better desktops...

I don't mind the 11 inch screen, but it needs a Eyefinity 5800 chip set so I can add the monitors so when I am in the office, I can use real monitors

now, if only they'll add AMD's external Graphics port to allow for a discrete external graphics solution for when you're at home, you'll have a really good pc set up for both on the run and at home.

I hope it gets Optimus as well. I'd personally love to see the ATI 5870m or similar with switchable or Optimus/similar technology in a 13 inch laptop. Remove the CD drive and use that space to fit the graphics card, heatsink, and some more battery space.

The only problem is, when you spec it to anything half assed, it gets quite pricey.
The C2D P9700 is 2.80GHz with 6MB cache and with a TDP of 28W. It retails for about $400. Surely the M11x could handle a 28W CPU?
The highest performance 25W i7 is the I7-640LM at 2.13GHz and 4MB cache. It also retails for $400.

So, tell me, were the i(3/5/7) line really that much of an improvement over the C2D in the mobile sector?

Dell, you already had a great line of CPUs waiting, whyh didn't you take the chance before? Marketing BS?
And why the crappy 1366x768 screen? Be innovative, put 1920x1080 on a 13", high resolutions are already available on 15" laptops.
And why the glossy? Bad Dell, bad.
