Video editing pc for about £700

hey my friend wants to buy or build a new pc for video editing and playing games he wants it to do high end video editing he has all the peripherals his budget is £700 about and he would like to play some recent games such as guild wars but it does not have to be on ultra he also wants the case to look good but not if it will cost him a fortune.

he is not likely to improve the pc so no SLI or crossfire and the only thing that he says he knows he wants is 16gb ram.

please can someone help my friend he will need a list of components.

thank you the only reason that I am not helping him pick the parts is I have no clue when it comes to media PCs gaming ones I am your man but would like to hear from the community to see what other people suggest and hope this will help him make up his mind to BUILD! his own pc.

You shouldn't need such a powerful graphics card for video editing. You won't even need one that powerful for gaming if you're only playing MMO's and don't mind lowering the settings a bit. Getting a cheaper one not only gives you more funds but it helps to create a quieter PC as well by keeping the power consumption low.

He doesn't really need a 990FX board either, the only real benefit over the 970 chipset is more PCI-e lanes and SLI support. Even most gamers won't need that, a video editor certainly won't.

Here's another suggestion with more focus on quietness, I find that important in a workstation type build.

You'll be amazed at how quiet that will be with all the fans turned down. There should be almost no vibration and the noisiest thing should be the 2 case fans running at 1200RPM. That is pretty quiet but I generally prefer to run under 1000RPM, keep in mind that if you want to make it any quieter, that you will want some better fans.

yes looks good both build thanks alot guys you both helped me out will look into both builds more carfully and will show them both to my friend who can make the final judgement call but thanks a lot love the community helps me out so much even with silly questions.

Good stuff. Bear in mind that if you see 1866Mhz RAM at a similar price, it would be worth it with that CPU. DOn't pay much more for it though.
