I tried using my 30 inch TV as an additional monitor for my PC. The image of the desktop and the text in windows is blurry and nearly impossible to read. The only time the screen image is satisfactorily clear is when I am gaming in full screen mode or if I am showing a PowerPoint presentation in full screen mode. I have an ATI Radeon 9000 Video card with both VGA and DVI outputs and it also has S-Video and Composite outputs for a TV. Any ideas on what I need to do in order to get my TV screen to look legible?

I have an idea...get HDTV!

Seriously, TV's have VERY poor resolution. Your only hope is to use larger fonts. If you go into display settings>advanced you'll see options for changing fonts, you can use large...and if that doesn't make the text big enough to read, you'll need custom fonts.

But I think that will increase the fonts on both the TV and monitor.

TVs are inherently low-resolution, that's why they are crap when hooked up to computers. They're fine for only low-res imagery. I mean, compare the textures of a high-res game on a computer as compared to a TV. On the TV it'll be streaked and blurred, while on the monitor it'll be crisp and clear, all the time. The only thing you can do is increase the font size of what you're viewing.

and even using cleartype will make things much more worst on tvs.

or decrease the resolution up to 640*480 which is very bad these days.

Yeah I know. Lots of games now don't even support 640x480. It's unbearable to me nowadays.
